Perfection

Perfection
Don’t want anything less
Nights and nights
In my room
With heavy eyelids
And cramps in my hand
And Still-

Nothing

Back to the Drawing board
Hands to my face
Rubbing my eyes
The smell of Pine
Wafting through my window
I work and I work

A mystery
Will something happen
I fail and I fail

And then…

Something happens!

Something Good

The Clouds Go By

Lying on the ground
Grass tickling my neck and ears

Clouds drift overhead

The gentle breeze
Blows across my face
Tossing my hair
Back and forth

Trees stand tall;
Pillars reaching for the sky

I listen as birds twitter
Watching the clouds go by

Snake
They didn’t have to kill it
It wasn’t hurting anyone
They could have moved it
To somewhere safe
Like a forest
But no
They had
To make a big deal
Over it
And
But they killed
It
And
Left it by the side of the road
Instead of getting they’re hands dirty
And moving it

I look at the sky
And watch the clouds pass overhead
They look like white sheep

The Parade

Today’s the parade
Preparations have been made
For us to have fun
The classes come, one by one
It’s going to be a great afternoon

Here comes the mascot
It’s most certainly not
A dull and dreary day
And we all say
WHOO- HOO

The sun is shining on the field
I’m using my blanket as a kind of shield
Ants scurry across the grass
To me they’re slow but to them they’re fast
It’s a beautiful day

And without another look
Classes stand up to share their book
Everyone will have a turn
They look around, there’s much to learn
One of our teachers is commentating

Now we go away in line
I’ve even lost track of time
They take the kids inside the school
Enforcing many a rule
It’s been a great day

Something's Off

Something seems off

Like I forgot something

But I didn’t

It’s wrong, frustrating

Something seems off

My Mutt, Penny
When we found her she was in a cage
We didn’t know her name or age
She was so sweet
With her cute little feet
And I wanted her
She’d been checked by the vet
She was now our new pet
We called her Penny

She was kind of wild
But the way she always smiled
Made you long
For this dog
And in the end
She turned out to be a great friend

She heard
Every bird
And had a quarrel
With every squirrel
But it was fine with me
And she loved you
Through and through

She loves to walk
But she can’t talk
If so I know what she’d say
“ Please, please, come out and play”
Or at least, I think so
And the way she’ll run
Is so much fun
That you want to do it forever

And to this day
She’s managed to stay
In perfect health
Not to mention excellent stealth
For she’s the sneakiest dog on earth
So we snuggle up at night
Everything is right
And I watch good ol’ television

Flower

Flower
Beautiful, Free
Collects the sunlight
Elegant, and smells lovely

USC mascot Cocky, a fire truck, and 325 school children will parade in front of Brookland-Cayce Grammar School #1, Friday, April 17, starting at 1:00 p.m. to culminate the school’s spring reading incentive program and to celebrate National Library Week.

Students will dress as their favorite literary character for the parade. The student from each grade that read the most will have a picture taken with Cocky.

For more than six weeks students have been reading to meet their classroom goals. In all, the students have read more than 1,000 books. The parade wraps up a week of activities including visits by community leaders to share stories with individual classrooms.

“It’s very important for these children to understand that their lives as readers will extend beyond school,” said Frances Dimery, Reading and Writing Coach for B-C Grammar #1. “In addition to sharing stories with the children, the volunteers shared how reading affects their daily lives. We had visits from firemen, the military, business people, football players, and even our school crossing guard.”

“The fact that so many people are willing to take time out of their work schedule to come visit our school sends the children a message,” said Principal Walter Clark. “It tells them that reading is important to many different people and worthwhile no matter what job you plan to do in the future.”

Night
Blackest night
And without sight
I know you are beautiful

You are all around me
And though I cannot see
I know you are beautiful

There is no light
But I have no fright
For I know you are beautiful

You are free
I know you are free
And I know you are beautiful

Tell me tree
What do you see
From the perch
So high above

Where birds chirp
And squirrels chitter
Tell me tree
Is it bitter?

To me you are tall
And to you I am small
Tell me tree
How did you become so great

You allow me to climb
And for me to find
The earth
As a different place

I have decided to start posting poetry on my blog.I am now 10 years old, and I want to be a writer/poet.I might as well get practice. I go to school at BC#1, in South Carolina.

Camden
Camden is very interesting.Camden is a town that was burned down by the British soldiers during the Revlutionary War.The Camden Oak is over 300 years old. There is a
house that first belonged to the Americans, but the British took over.
