My Mutt, Penny
When we found her she was in a cage
We didn’t know her name or age
She was so sweet
With her cute little feet
And I wanted her
She’d been checked by the vet
She was now our new pet
We called her Penny


She was kind of wild
But the way she always smiled
Made you long
For this dog
And in the end
She turned out to be a great friend


She heard
Every bird
And had a quarrel
With every squirrel
But it was fine with me
And she loved you
Through and through










She loves to walk
But she can’t talk
If so I know what she’d say
“ Please, please, come out and play”
Or at least, I think so
And the way she’ll run
Is so much fun
That you want to do it forever


And to this day
She’s managed to stay
In perfect health
Not to mention excellent stealth
For she’s the sneakiest dog on earth
So we snuggle up at night
Everything is right
And I watch good ol’ television
